John P. Cain, 61, of Topeka, KS, died June 15, 2023, at Stormont Vail in Topeka, KS.
A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Axtell.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy will officiate.
Private family burial will be held at a later date in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
John was born on October 8, 1961, in Seneca, KS, to Kenneth and Dorothy (Deters) Cain. In 1980, he graduated from Axtell High School. He then went on to NCK Technical College in Beloit, KS. He worked various jobs as an Electronic Technician for Sears in Hoxie, KS, All City Appliance in Topeka, Avondale TV and Montgomery Wards.
Some things John enjoyed doing were hunting, fishing, high school sports, band, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother; infant brother, Kenneth Jr.; stepmother, Irene; stepbrother, Mark Volle; and niece, Barbara Clarissa Cain.
Survivors include his father, Kenneth Cain, Marysville, KS; brothers, Vernon (Kelly) Cain, Marysville, Richard Cain, Axtell, KS, Walter Cain, Manhattan, KS, and Don Cain, Longford, KS; stepsisters; Lorna (Ed) Farrell, Axtell, and Rhonda (Loren) Wassenberg, Blue Rapids, KS; aunts and uncles, Barbara Deters, Baileyville, KS; Linus (Riva) Deters, Seneca, Ronald (Sharon) Cain, Overland Park, KS, Galen (Sharon) Cain, Carbondale, CO, Gary Cain, Port Hueneme, CA, Bernita Engelken, Bucyrus, KS, and Shirley Deters, Meridan, KS; stepsister-in-law, Barb Volle, Axtell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to Catholic Relief Services. Contributions may be sent in care of the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home, 205 4th St, Axtell, KS 66403.
