John R. Holmes

John R. Holmes, 76, of Blue Rapids, KS, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Blue Valley Health and Rehab in Blue Rapids.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 25, at the United Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids. Rev. Shannon Borgman officiated.

Burial took place in Bellegarde Cemetery, south of Blue Rapids.

John was born to Lloyd and Lela (Murphy) Holmes in Maryville, MO. In 1967, he graduated from Stanberry High School, Stanberry, MO.

John worked as a dockworker and truck driver for Indian Freight in Chicago, IL. In 2005, he moved to Blue Rapids. He loved his cats, fishing for catfish, and watching John Wayne Westerns.

He was united in marriage to Debbie Phillips in Stanberry, MO, and they later divorced. He later married Donna Graeinski, and she preceded him in death.

Also, preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Kimberly Reidlinger; brothers, Archie and Joe; and sister, Rita Kay.

Survivors include his son, John (Delilah) Holmes Jr., Marysville; stepson, Charlie Price, Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Amy Holmes; sister-in-law, Peggy Holmes; brother, Ronnie; and sisters, Alta, Mary Sue, and Judy.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
