Kenneth Bures

Kenneth L. Bures, 87, of Hanover, Kan., died March 7, 2019 at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Neb. Visitation was Sunday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 11 at St. John’s Catholic Church.  Father Rathinam Soosaimari officiated.  Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang “Come to Me”, “I Have Loved You”, “Amazing Grace”, “Song of Farewell” and “On Eagles Wings”. The pallbearers were Logan Bruna, Jaydan Bruna, Camran Bruna, Kyle Bruna, Brandon Hauptman and Ryan Olberding. Burial was in the Odell Czech National Cemetery at Odell, Neb. Kenneth was born May 19, 1931 at Odell, to Albert and Anna (Novotny) Bures.  He grew up in the Odell area and graduated from Odell High School.  He served in the military during the Korean War, spending three years in England. He was a farmer and worked many years at Bruna Implement until retiring in 1989.  He was an active member of St John’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, especially western novels and long drives in the country.  He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Bruna; brother-in-law, Floyd Bruna; and a great-nephew, Dylan Bruna. Survivors include six nieces and nephews, Jeanne (Mark) Hauptman, Hays, Kan.; Doug Bruna, Roger Bruna, Scott Bruna and Brian (Darice) Bruna, all of Hanover, Renee Green, Waterville; thirteen great nieces and nephews, and eight great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.
