LaDona M. Sedlacek

LaDona Marie Sedlacek, 77, of Hanover, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 4, 1948, in Odell, Nebraska, to William "Bill" Laue and Patricia (Mullen) Laue. She graduated from Hanover High School in 1966 and later graduated from Crum's Beauty College.

On July 29, 1967, she married Francis (Frank) Sedlacek II, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Together they shared nearly sixty years of marriage, raised four children, and welcomed a growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Crum’s Beauty College, LaDona began her career as a beautician. After her marriage, she devoted herself to raising her four children and creating a home where family was always the priority. As her children grew older, she returned to the workforce, working in hospital housekeeping, with the U.S. Census Bureau, in a Kansas job skills program, as a partner/owner of What’s New? Consignment, in sales at Sedlacek’s Generation Four Furniture, and later as manager of Schwartz’s Shopping Center.

She had a remarkable gift for making ordinary moments beautiful. Whether arranging colorful flowerpots, creating exquisite cross-stitch pieces, preparing family meals, decorating for the holidays, or wrapping Christmas presents late into the night, she expressed her love through countless thoughtful acts of care. Her home was always warm and welcoming, and her family knew that every detail mattered because the people she loved mattered.

LaDona found her greatest joy in caring for her family. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she treasured time spent with them and found happiness in watching each new generation grow. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and selfless love leave a legacy that lives on through the traditions she created and the family she loved so deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Patricia Laue; her brothers, Daniel Laue and Doug Laue; and her infant sister, Mary Krista Laue.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Sedlacek II; her children, Brenda (Peter) Gunn, Teri (Brad) Runnebaum, Troy (Jen) Sedlacek, and Jared (Kara) Sedlacek; her grandchildren, Ali (Colton) Barton, Maddie Runnebaum, Dawson (Avery) Sedlacek, Emma Sedlacek, Marin Runnebaum, Nora Gunn, and Eli Sedlacek; her great-granddaughters, Maeve and Navy Barton; her siblings, Tracy Laue and Greg Laue, along with many beloved extended family members.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 30, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Hanover Mortuary. The family greeted friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A rosary service followed at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Father David Metz was the celebrant. Janet Fritschi served as organist, while Kim Zimmerman and the church choir led the congregation in singing "Be Not Afraid," "Prayer of St. Francis," "I Am the Bread of Life," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," and "On Eagle's Wings."

The pallbearers were Peter Gunn, Nick Rohr, Brad Runnebaum, Dawson Sedlacek, Eli Sedlacek, and Coby Sedlacek.

Burial followed at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ladona’s memory. The family hopes to establish a lasting tribute honoring her love of beauty and her compassion and care for others.
