Laura “Laurie” P. Kleinert, 58, of Marysville, KS passed away March 28, 2024, at her home.

A visitation was held Monday, April 1, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. 

A rosary was held at 7 p.m., Monday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.  Father Quentin Schmitz officiated.  The musicians were Rosemary Forst and Paula Landoll-Smith.  Music included "All Are Welcome", "Beautiful is Your Love", "They'll Know We Are Christians", "Hosea", "Let There Be Peace on Earth", "Go Into The World", "Go In Peace" and "Exposition/ O Saving Victim."

The pallbearers were Scott Kleinert, Kevin Kleinert, John Michael Sweet and Truett Sweet.

The honorary pallbearers were Milo Kleinert, Daxton Kleinert, Bradley Kleinert and Stratton Sweet.

Burial followed in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery.

Laurie was born on August 4, 1965, to Michael and Sandra “Sandy” (Schmitt) Sweet in Lincoln, NE.  In the mid 70’s, Laurie and her family moved to Marysville.  She graduated from Marysville High School in 1983.

On May 17, 1985, Laurie was united in marriage to Thomas Kleinert at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville.  They were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Scott.

Together, Laurie and Tom moved to Orlando, FL.  Here, she worked in personnel management at Orlando International Airport.  They moved back to Marysville in 1998.

Once back, Laurie worked at Blue Valley Telemarketing and as a waitress at the Wagon Wheel.  When her mom purchased Garden of Eden, she helped manage and design floral arrangements until retiring in August of 2023. 

She loved music, her family, and visiting with people about their own lives and family.  Laurie also enjoyed watching wrestling matches.

Preceding her in death is her father, Michael; stepfather, Gilbert Schmitz; and brother-in-law, Jeff VanLent.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Kevin (Alyssa) Kleinert, Bremen, KS, and Scott (Baili) Kleinert, Louisburg, KS; three grandchildren, Milo, Daxton and Bradley Kleinert; mother, Sandy Schmitz, Marysville; brother, Mike Sweet, Marysville; and sister, Debbie VanLent, Lincoln.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
