LaVonne Kay Cook, 84, Hanover, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Hanover Hospital in Hanover, KS. Visitation was from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, April 21 at the Hanover Mortuary. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. Pastor Elvin Crosby officiated and Janet Fritschi played the organ. The hymns were “In the Garden”, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”. Pallbearers were Mark Goeckel, Randy Goeckel, Brian Sinn, Darren Bruna, Matt Bonser and Bruce Allerheiligen. Honorary Pallbearers were Keith Allerheiligen, Mae Nieman and Shirley Laue. Burial was in the Hanover Cemetery. LaVonne was born on January 20, 1939 in Odell, NE the daughter of Oliver and Helen (Werner) Allerheiligen. She graduated from Hanover High School. On September 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Dale Cook in Hanover. This union was blessed with three children, Debra, Shelley and Alan. They celebrated sixty-five years of marriage in 2022. They were a Navy family for 20 years, so they lived in many states before returning to Hanover. LaVonne worked for the Hanover Hospital and Washington County Water District. She then was at the Community State Bank in Hanover for over twenty-five years. LaVonne enjoyed working with the Hanover community. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Zion Lutheran Women’s Group. Holidays were her favorite with family get-togethers, but Christmas was the best. She loved decorating for Christmas and was known for her huge angel collection. LaVonne made quilts and loved attending quilt and crafts shows. She planted flowers along the Hanover Cemetery Road. LaVonne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law, Wesley Smith; and a granddaughter, Erin Stout. Survivors include her husband, Dale; daughters, Debra (George) Stout and Shelley (Dave) Wichman; and son Alan (Naldy) Cook; brother, Marvin Allerheiligen; sister, Karen Thomas and two grandchildren, Carrie (Dustin) Oswalt and Lesley (Adam) White and three great grandchildren, Addison and Emmett Oswalt and Liam White; step grandchildren, Scott (Courtney) Smith, Shawn (Kindra) Smith, C.J. (Ashly) Padget, April Padget, Krystal (Phil) Brunin and Kasey (Macee) Wichman; step great grandchildren, Connor and Tyler Smith, Brendan and Haylee Smith, Jackson and Myles Padget, Riley Padget-Cook, Olivia and Abi Brunin, Rylee, Camren and Clayton White, and Adaline Wichman; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
