Lola M. Holle

Lola Mae Holle, age 92, of Bremen, KS, entered her final rest on August 2, 2026, at the Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort, KS.

A visitation was held on Thursday, August 6, from Noon to 8 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, KS. The family was present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 7, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, north of Bremen. Rev. Albert James Bader officiated. The organist was Amanda Carter.  Hymns included, "Just as I Am, Without One Plea," "My Hope is Built on Nothing Else," "How Great Thou Art," "Rock of Ages Cleft for Me," and "Abide with Me."

The pallbearers were Nathan Holle, Michael Holle, Lucas Breytung, Wyatt Holle, Jake Holle, and Matt Holle.

Lola was laid to rest next to her husband in the cemetery at Bethlehem following the funeral. There, Lola and Wilmer will await the return of their Savior in glory on the Last Day. A light lunch was served after the Committal Service in Bethlehem’s parish hall, and everyone was invited to attend. 

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Lola: Lola Mae Holle, 92, entered her final rest on August 2, 2026 at the Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort, KS. Lola was given life by her Creator and she was born on July 2, 1934 in the family’s home on their farm outside Bremen, KS. The sixth of seven children born to Walter and Clara (nee Soul) Rengstorf, Lola was reborn as a child of God on July 15, 1934, as she was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit by Rev. John V. Kauffeld at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Bremen, KS.

Lola later confessed her baptismal faith and her Lord during her confirmation on Palm Sunday (March 21) in 1948. Her verse that day: “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:41). A short time later, Lola tasted for the first time her Lord’s body and blood in the Holy Supper of the Church. She was sustained and nourished by that same “medicine of immortality” throughout her 92 year pilgrimage here on this earth.

On April 5, 1953, Lola married Wilmer Holle at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She and Wilmer were blessed with four children, Barbara Ann, Vincent Wayne, Thomas Kevin, and Brian George, and at their baptisms each were made God’s children as well. Lola would later be blessed with a son-in-law, Jim, and daughters-in-laws Bridget (Vince), Cindy (Tom), and Becky (Brian). She was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her.

Lola was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and she grew up and lived within a half-mile of the church. She finished grade school at Bethlehem Lutheran School in 1948, and later graduated from Marysville High School in 1952. Lola milked and helped Wilmer (and later Tom) on the farm for most of her life. After Wilmer passed away in 1980, Lola also worked for USD 364 as a cook delivering meals and as a custodian on the second floor of the high school. Her last career found her helping out at, and later managing, the Sale Barn Café in Marysville.

Lola was always active in the church as a member of Dorcas and Ladies Aid; she volunteered as a Braille worker and was a long-time quilter. She embroidered and quilted quilts for her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed racing go-carts, reading, and playing cards and games, especially with her friends and later her kids and grandkids. While never professing to be a great cook, her bread, rolls, desserts, and other specialty dishes were always a real hit with her family.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, daughter-in-law (Bridget), and two infant great-granddaughters, Laney and Lily Holle (Jake & Kate). She is survived by her children Barb (& Jim) Breytung of Delevan, WI, Vince Holle of Leavenworth, KS, Tom (& Cindy) Holle of Bremen, KS, Brian (& Becky) Holle of Hiawatha, KS, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law, Lola Mae Rengstorf (Beatrice, NE) and Lowine Rengstorf (Bremen, KS).

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister in Christ, Lola.
