Marcelline "Marcy" Meyer

Marcelline "Marcy" Lavon Meyer, 91, of Axtell, KS, died December 10, 2022, at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital in Pawnee City, NE. Visitation was Thursday, December 15, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell and from 6 to 7 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell. A rosary service began at 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. The servers were Brantley Meyer, Brody Strathman and John William Meyer. Kathy Buessing was the organist and Savannah VanWinkle was the vocalist. Music included "On Eagles Wings", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "One Bread, One Body", "My Mothers Hands", "She's Gonna Fly", "Come Home", "Lead Me Lord" and "Joy to the World." The pallbearers were Travis Meyer, Adam Aday, Aaron Aday, Stielf Andrew Erdmann, Dustin Erdmann, Lucas Meyer, Evan Meyer, Hayden Meyer, Henry Meyer, John William Meyer, Connor Meyer and Austin Nider. Burial was at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, north of Axtell. Marcy was born September 2, 1931, at St. Benedict, KS, daughter of Henry and Ida Josephine M. (Gellhaus) Hulsing. In 1949, she graduated from St. Benedict High School in St. Benedict, KS. On February 20, 1954, she married Donald J. Meyer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at St. Benedict. They made their home north of Axtell on the farm until moving into Axtell in 2000. Marcy was a farm wife and helped with the farm work. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, quilting, going to the casino with Donnie, and camping in their RV. They traveled to 49 states and even drove their camper to Alaska. Her love for her children and grandchildren were timeless and she treasured each and every one of them. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Ladies Guild and enjoyed her Catholic Faith. She was once a member of the Rural Neighbors Club card group. Marcy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald on March 6, 2013; grandson, Augustine Meyer; daughter-in-law, Sharis Meyer; and 9 siblings, Celestine Hulsing, Emil Hulsing, Mary Stallbaumer, Henrietta Holthaus, Florence Kohake, Mildred Kohake, Elsie McGuire, Henry Hulsing, Jr., and Joseph Hulsing. Survivors include her nine children, Jim (Julie) Meyer, Axtell, Jackie (Shawn) Aday, Wichita, KS, Mary Jo (Bob) Erdmann, Lincoln, NE, John (Darla) Meyer, Axtell, Jerry (Kristi) Meyer, Lincoln, Julie (Damon) Putnam, Hoyt, KS, Steve (Velda) Meyer, Valley Center, KS, Donna (Jeff) Nider, Pawnee City, and Diane (Duke) Dutton, Augusta, KS; 32 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, Bridget (Trey) Crow and children, Madalyn, Carson, Lauren and Jackson; Carrie (Jay) Alcon and children, Caden and Callan; Travis (Paige) Meyer and children, Brantley, Kinsley, Knox and Camrie; Carla (Dustin) Strathman and children, Brody, Colton, Colby and Ryker; Adam Aday; Aaron (Leah) Aday and son, Leonard; Allison Aday; Melissa (Christopher) Beeck and children, Garrett and Callie; Stielf Andrew (Stephanie) Erdmann and son, Stielf Xavier; Dustin Erdmann; Lucas Meyer and son, Beckham; Evan (fiancé Mikala Smith) Meyer; Joseph (Rachel) Percival and children, Georgia, Emory, Knox and Dawson; Callie (Tristan) Hormann and daughter, Lillyan; Austin Branch; Hayden (fiancé Devon Zurek) Meyer; Hannah Meyer; Henry Meyer; John William Meyer; Macy (Cale) Green; Megan Putnam; Abby (fiancé Sam Steinlage) Meyer; Emma Meyer; Heidi Meyer; Connor Meyer; Austin (fiancé Morgan O’Malley) Nider; Savannah (Tyler) VanWinkle; Mallory Nider; Ciara Dutton; Sage Dutton, A.J. (Kaydee) Dutton and children Memphis and Monte; and Derek Dutton; and 3 siblings, Bernard (Kay) Hulsing and Victor Hulsing, all of Seneca, and Ida Sextro-Wichman, Kelly, KS. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home.
