Marie D. Griffee, age 92, of Beattie, Kansas, died Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort, Kansas.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, with the family present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 10, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Janelle Knowles will officiate.
The pallbearers will be Grant Griffee, Eli Griffee, Brandon Griffee, Jaden Griffee, Galen Cope and Tim Claycamp.
Burial will follow in Beattie Union Cemetery.
Marie was born June 5, 1934, at Seneca, Kansas, daughter of Frank and Catherine (Latus) Brockman. She attended Beattie schools and graduated from Beattie High School in 1952.
On August 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to Wilbur “Tobe” Griffee at Marysville. To this union six children were born.
Marie was a member of the Beattie United Methodist Church until in closed.
Marie worked since age 15 being a care giver. She worked at the Mary Marshall Manor, Marshall County Nursing Center from 1971-1986, worked for Twin Valley Developmental Services in Greenleaf and Beattie from 1986-1998, and from 1998-2003 she was a care giver in homes where she was needed.
Her most fond memories were being with her children and their families and family reunions. She enjoyed flowers, reading, embroidering and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol Munger; brothers, Francis, Leo, Henry, Lorenz and Fred Brockman; son-in-law, Stan Reed; and five grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Mary Cope (Galen) of Meriden, Kansas, Margaret “Mert” Reed of Waterville, Kansas, Marlene Tryon (Chuck) of Waterville, Marjorie Grable (James) of Beattie, Mark Griffee (Jessica) of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Mike Griffee (Deb) of Beattie; two sisters, Betty Wolfgang and Theresa Burrington; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established, with contributions designated to Frankfort Community Care Home or Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
