Marjorie I. Buessing

February 15, 1928 — April 3, 2019

Marjorie Irene Buessing, 91, Axtell, died April 3, 2019 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home, Seneca, Kan. Visitation was Sunday, April 7, from noon until 5 p.m. at Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home, Axtell, Kan. A rosary service was at 7 p.m., Sunday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Axtell. Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 8 at St Michael's Catholic Church with Father Jim Shaughnessy officiating.  Musicians were Kathy Buessing and Cheryl Reinecke.  Music selections were “Parable,” “Precious Lord Take My Hand,” “On Eagles Wings,” “In Every Age” and “City of God.”  Special Music, “Canaan’s Land” was by Douglas Todd and Susan Todd. The pallbearers were grandchildren of Marjorie, Brian Hinkle, Dan Hinkle, Phillip Buessing, Gil Korpi, Daniel Buessing, Jonathan Todd, Andrew Todd and Dakota Angell. Burial was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Marjorie was born in Axtell, Kansas February 15, 1928 to Peter and Irene (Godbout) Porting and lived her entire life within five miles from where she was born. She attended Grand View Country School one year and the remaining in St Michael’s and Axtell Public schools. She was a lifelong member of St Michael’s parish and the Ladies Guild. On August 27, 1946 she married Leo Henry Buessing. To this marriage were born seven children, six of whom survive: Diane (Mike) Hinkle, Kansas City, KS; Barry (Peggy) Buessing, Axtell; Debra (Steve) Korpi, Leawood, KS; Roger Buessing, Bennett, CO; Karen (Doug) Todd, Seneca; Connie (Jeff) Angell, Dillon, CO. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, and a sister Dorothy (Robert) Landrum of Hot Springs, AR. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carol in 1975, her husband Leo in 2006, her parents, her brothers Alfred, Eugene & Gerald and her sisters Eileen Shaughnessy, Mary Kay Burdolski, Rita Kuckelman & Anna Marie Kuckelman. A life-long homemaker, she will be forever remembered for her unforgettable meals that her brother-in-law referred to as “country cuisine” and for her gardening, sewing, embroidery and quilting skills. She was also an avid and enthusiastic Kansas City Royals baseball fan a follower of K-State sports.     To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Marjorie I.
