Marjorie I. Potts, 90, of Salina and formerly of Oketo, KS, died June 23, 2020 at Salina. Visitation was Friday, June 26 from 1 to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27 at the United Methodist Church in Marysville. Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. The organist was Gail Gilkerson. Music included “Old Rugged Cross” and “Love Never Fails”. The pallbearers were Jim Zimmerman, Cody Hackney, Brian Alter, Aiden Taylor, Elijah Alter and Mike Blumer. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Marjorie was born on February 12, 1930 in Marshall County, KS, to Cecil and Ethel (Smith) Dolen. In 1948, she graduated from Blue Rapids High School. On August 29, 1948, Marjorie was united in marriage to Glenn Junior Potts at Abilene, KS. She worked for Beech Aircraft for ten years. In 1974, they moved to Oketo and farmed. Marjorie was a farm wife and homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards, raising huge gardens and was a great cook. She could always make a fine meal from whatever she had available. Marjorie was a member of the United Methodist Church and loved traveling the United States. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Stephen Edwards; and brother, Cecil Dolen. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Sue Edwards and Pamela Kay Hackney, both of Salina; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nephew, Daryl Dolen and great nephew, Jim Zimmerman. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
