Mary A. Gausepohl, 98, of Marysville, KS, passed away on March 28, 2024.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, April 2, from 1 to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.

A rosary was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.  A funeral service followed at 10:30 a.m.  Father Quentin Schmitz officiated.  The musicians were Dolores Bruna and Paula Landoll-Smith.  Music included "Hail Holy Queen", "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother", "Song of Farewell", "Be Not Afraid", "This Day Was Made by the Lord", "On Eagle's Wings" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand."

Burial took place in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery.

Mary was born on August 27, 1925, in Detroit, MI, to Ben and Marie (Brockman) Gausepohl.  She attended grade school at St. Malachy’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Beattie High School in 1943.  She attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina and graduated in 1945.

She started working at Dierks Lumber in Kansas City, MO, and in 1967 she began working at United Missouri Bank until retiring in 1990.   Mary was active in the American Business Women’s Association Tiara Chapter of Kansas City for many years.   She held several offices during her membership and in 1972, was named Woman of the Year.  She was active in the Adult Social Club where she held the position of Secretary.

After her retirement, she helped in the food pantry at Redemptorist Church in Kansas City, which she really enjoyed, and met some wonderful friends.   In 2010, Mary moved to Marysville.   She loved traveling the world with family and friends and never knew a stranger.

Her faith was very much a part of her at the Redemptorist Catholic Church and St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, where she would take communion to the home bound.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne Nordhus; and brother, Harry Gausepohl; sister-in-law, Betty Gausepohl; and brothers-in-law, Francis Nordhus and Jerry Kammerdiener.

Survivors include her sister, Lucille Kammerdiener of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory's Catholic Church and Meadowlark Hospice.  Contributions may be sent in the care of Kinsley Mortuary.
