Mary E. (Holliger) Kotas, 89, of Grand Junction, Iowa, died Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Jefferson, Iowa.  

A graveside funeral service was at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Greenleaf City Cemetery, Greenleaf, Kansas.  Pastor Janelle Knowles officiated.

Mary was born May 20, 1934, in Axtell, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Katie Holliger.  She attended Summerfield High School.  In 1953, she married Homer Foutch and to this union three children were born, Cheryl, Gary and Lori.  In 1965, Mary was united in marriage to Max Schultz and together they also had three children, Michael, David and Amy.  After their divorce, Mary married Bob Kotas in 1985.  They later divorced.  

Mary worked as a CNA, CMA and Surgical Nurse at the Hanover Hospital for thirty years.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, fishing and playing Yahtzee with her best friend, Vereena Wetter.  After spending thirty years in the Hanover area, Mary moved away from her long-time home to reside in Grand Junction, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and brother, Wilber Holliger.

Survivors include children, Cheryl (Lee) Meyer, Gary (Kathy) Foutch, Lori Foutch, Michael (Robyn) Schultz, David (Meghan) Schultz and Amy Schultz; brother, Bill (Judy) Holliger; grandchildren, Anka, Katie, Allison, Audrey, Clint, John, Mark, Trevor and Isaac; fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; nieces, Lisa, Jill and nephew, Brannon; and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary, Hanover, Kansas.
