Mary Alice Parmentier, 72, of Topeka, KS, died May 13, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice, NE. Visitation was Thursday, May 18, from 10 to 2 p.m. at American Legion Post #163 in Marysville, KS. A funeral service followed the visitation at 2 p.m. at the American Legion. Pastor Jim Akins officiated. The pallbearers were Nathan Parmentier, Bryant Frerking, Jay Frerking, Kode Pacha, Vincent Pacha and Tim Pacha. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Mary Alice was born on September 3, 1950, in Marysville, to Arthur and Lorene (Seematter) Pacha. In 1968, she graduated from Marysville High School. After high school, she went on to attend Kansas State University and Washburn University. She was united in marriage to Richard Parmentier, and they were blessed with two children, Kevin and Daniel. They later divorced. Mary Alice’s life partner was David Hornbaker for 35 years until his passing. For 42 years, Mary Alice enjoyed working for the Kansas Highway Patrol. Her role was to run the head office and teach at the Salina Academy. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Rossville, KS. Some things she enjoyed doing were having get-togethers with her children and grandchildren, and spending the holidays with all of her family. Mary Alice will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Preceding her in death were her parents, Art and Lorene Pacha; grandparents, Emil and Alice Seematter and Vincent and Lenora Pacha; and life partner, David Hornbaker. Survivors include her children, Kevin (Linda) Parmentier and Daniel Parmentier; siblings, Jean (Randy) Frerking and Steve (Sherilyn) Pacha; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to the Pony Express Veterinary Clinic Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
