Mary Reis (Koch), 73, of Greeley, Colorado, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2025, from her home in Greeley.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 17, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Beattie. Father Jim Shaughnessy will officiate. The musicians will be Laura O'Neil and Diana Younger. Music will include "Be Not Afraid", "Hosea", "On Eagle's Wings", "Go In Peace", and "How Great Thou Art." Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
Mary was born on November 13, 1951, in Marysville, Kansas, to Merlin & Berniece (Christianson) Koch. She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents, James and Helen (Meerian) Christianson and Frank and Maude Koch.
Mary grew up in Summerfield, Kansas, where she graduated from Summerfield High School in 1969. She went on to earn a business degree from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS), and graduated from the Catholic Biblical School. Mary had a longstanding career with State Farm, holding several successful management positions until her retirement in 2007.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was baptized as a Roman Catholic at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie, Kansas, where she worshipped throughout her youth. She remained devoted to her faith throughout her life and found great purpose in helping others and working closely with local shelters to support those in need. She had a deep love of scripture and theology, teaching everyone she could about the beauty of Christ, salvation, His resurrection, and of course, the Eucharist. Mary was proud to have helped facilitate the "Year of Faith" at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Greeley, teaching Catechism and inspiring others to learn and grow in their faith journey.
Mary will be remembered for her boundless generosity and kindness, for her thoughtfulness, humor, and compassion. Her beautiful soul will live on in the people she cherished and in the community she so deeply loved.
