Michael V. Bruna

Michael "Mike" V. Bruna, 76, Hanover, died Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, August 17 at Hanover Mortuary. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 18 at St. John's Catholic Church. Father Joseph Kieffer will officiate. Janet Fritschi will play the organ. Music will include “On Eagles Wings”, “I Am the Bread of Life” and “Amazing Grace”. Mike was born October 26, 1943 near Hanover to Vince and Kathlene (Kathe) Bruna. He graduated from Hanover High School. On September 5, 1970, he married Grace Dusin at St. John’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with 3 children. Mike worked at Bruna Implement, ran his own welding shop, and then worked at Landoll Corporation. He earned the nickname of “Iron Mike”. Mike also delivered the Topeka Daily Capital. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and cleaning walnuts in the fall. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. For over 20 years he volunteered for the Hanover City Fire Department and Hanover Rural Fire Department where he served as Chief. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughters, Brenda Berg and Elaine Greenwood. Survivors include his wife, Grace; son, Keith Bruna, Hanover; siblings, Betty Wollenberg, Joe Bruna, Dale (Gloria) Bruna, Vince (Kathy) Bruna, all of Hanover, Janet Hopper, Leonardville, KS, Bernard (Charlotte) Bruna, Waterville, KS, Duane (Joyce) Bruna, Hanover, Mary (Joe) Wetter, Marysville, Annie Gardner, Eudora, KS, David (Nanci) Bruna, Marysville, Mark (Jodie) Bruna, Hanover, Nancy Fisher, Manhattan, KS, and Jeff (Leslie) Bruna, Colwich, KS; 5 grandchildren, Jacob (Krystyna) Greenwood, Victoria (Justin Fitzjurls) Greenwood, Hope Greenwood, Samantha Berg and Debbie Berg; and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.
