Michael W. Murphy, 66, of Marysville, KS, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A private family service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 7 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Marysville. A public graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 7 at the Marysville City Cemetery. Michael was born at Smith Center, KS on September 21, 1953 to Patt Wayne and Lynn Alice (Lambert) Murphy. In 1971, he graduated from Herington High School, from Washburn University in 1974 and from Washburn Law School in 1977. On August 5, 1973, he was united in marriage to Julie Jo Towler at the University United Methodist Church in Topeka. They were blessed with three children, Sean, Shayna and Colin. Michael and his family moved to Marysville in August of 1986, where he was an attorney and had the Marshall County Abstract. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Blue Rapids, St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marysville. He belonged to the Kansas Bar Association, American Bar Association and Kansas Trial Lawyers. He loved studying the bible and learning about all religions. Michael also enjoyed reading and studying mathematics and philosophy and loved arguing politics. Michael loved his church and family. He would often take walks with his beagle. He always enjoyed visiting with people, even if they had no clue what he was talking about. Preceding him in death was his brother, Dennis Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Julie; parents, Patt and Lynn Murphy; children, Sean Murphy, Marysville, Shayna Murphy, Wichita and Colin (Yu-Ling) Murphy, Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Emmaline and Owen; and sisters, Patrice Lewerenz, Denver, CO and Deborah Ebke, Daykin, NE.
