Michael G. Schmitz, 65, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away on December 9, 2025, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.

Michael was born on April 4, 1960, to Gilbert Schmitz and Ruby Horn. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a medic during the Gulf War in Operation Desert Storm. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to Kansas.

Michael worked on a bridge crew in Iowa before later being employed at Landoll Company, where he worked for eight years. Due to injuries sustained during his military service, he was forced to retire early. In his free time, Michael enjoyed fishing and listening to music.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Schmitz, and his mother, Ruby Rothfelder.

Survivors include his two daughters, Kacey Moore (Ronald) and Roxanna Ford (Juan), both of Topeka, Kansas; his stepfather, Jim Rothfelder; one brother, Jeff Schmitz; two sisters, Lynn Schmitz and Christy Jenkins; step-siblings, Brian Rothfelder, Ginger Rothfelder, and Traci Hale; twelve grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
