Michael D. Young, 63, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, at the Frankfort Community Care Home. A man of integrity and warmth, Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
 
Born on October 25, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Michael was the beloved son of Samuel Morton Franklin and Louis Berniece (Ashworth) Young. He spent his formative years in St. Joseph and attended Benton High School.
 
Throughout his life, Michael found joy in various pursuits including construction work, farming, and caregiving as a certified nursing assistant. His passion for plants, particularly roses and cactuses, reflected his nurturing nature.
 
Family was paramount to Michael. He was known for his unwavering love and protective spirit towards his loved ones. Every October, the family gathered to celebrate numerous birthdays and anniversaries with outdoor grilling—a tradition close to Michael's heart.
 
On October 14, 1995, Michael exchanged vows with Susan Sherburne in Marysville; she remains his devoted wife. His memory will be cherished by his mother Lois Young of Kansas City, Missouri; son Matt Yost of Marysville; siblings Michelle (Mike) Grayson, Mark (Zara) Young, Jerry (Julie) Young, and Mike (Tammy) Thornberry; as well as his twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
 
Michael was preceded in death by his father and his son Shawn Young.
 
A funeral service to celebrate Michael's life was held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 at the Marysville Berean Church.  Pastor Joel Barber officiated.  Music included “There Is Power in the Blood”, The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace.”   Burial followed at the Marysville City Cemetery where he will find eternal peace.
 
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in the care of Kinsley Mortuary.
