Milton Ruben Anderson, 91, of Vliets, Kansas, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Lighthouse in Marysville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6 at the Mission Covenant Church near Axtell. Rev. Herb Schrader will officiate. Lisa Broxterman will be the organist. Music will include “On a Hill Far Away”, “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “Day by Day”. The pallbearers will be Kenneth Seematter, Kevin Larson, Matthew Ekstrum, Andrew Evan Westburg, Daphne Anderson and Linnea Anderson. The honorary pallbearers will be Simon Anderson, Xavier Anderson, Lucia Anderson, Violet Anderson and Mary Werner. Burial will be in Mission Covenant Cemetery. Milton was born on August 15, 1930, on a farm near Oberlin to Ruben and Muriel (Claar) Anderson. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of the Covenant Church. He grew up on a farm south of Oberlin and graduated from Decatur County High School in 1949. He enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in the Philippines from 1951-1953. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the states and graduated from Bethany College of Lindsborg, in business education. Milton was united in marriage to Eulala Lofdahl on August 8, 1959, at All Faith’s Chapel on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan. To this union a daughter and son were born. Milton taught business in Canton, Agenda, Frankfort and Valley Falls. He later became a corrections officer for the State of Kansas in Topeka. Fixing things, coloring, woodworking, reminiscing about the good old days and learning about family history, brought him great enjoyment. Cultivating special friendships with his students as a business teacher or as a pen pal with the local grade school students brought a special enthusiastic smile to his face. He had a great love of God, farming and music – playing his harmonica. He cherished his friendships with is family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Eulala. Survivors include his daughter, Kristin (Mark) Werner, Davenport, NE; son, Karl (Faith) Anderson, Bartow, FL; and grandchildren, Mary Werner, Daphne Anderson, Linnea Anderson, Simon Anderson, Xavier Anderson, Violet Anderson and Lucia Anderson. A memorial fund is established to Mission Covenant Cemetery. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
