Misty V. (Hardman) Long, 61 of Blue Rapids, KS passed away Tuesday, November 21st at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS.

Visitation will be at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, KS on Monday, November 27th from 1-9pm, with family receiving guests from 5-7pm.

The funeral service will be held at the Winifred Baptist Church in Winifred on Tuesday, November 28th at 10:00 a.m., with interment and graveside service to follow at the Antioch Cemetery, southwest of Frankfort. There will be a luncheon following the graveside service at the Winifred Baptist Church.

The pallbearers will be Jeremy Long, John Schneider, Eric Claycamp, Mike Gee, Ron Raub and Jeremy Henderson.
The honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Ngugi, Harold Ogg and Ken McAlary.

Misty was born on May 7, 1962 in Coffeyville, KS to Phillip Sr and Golda Scott. At the age of 2, she was adopted by her loving parents, Francis and Dorothy (King) Hardman of Marysville, KS. She attended school in Marysville, graduating from Marysville High in 1980. Misty later pursued and received her master's degree in business management with emphasis in hospitality.

She was unified in marriage to her loving husband, David Long on August 9, 1980. Misty lived a fulfilling life, dedicating herself to serving others. She had a diverse career which included working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a Certified Medication Aid (CMA) at various care homes in the area. She also provided compassionate home healthcare to numerous individuals in need. Misty operated a restaurant, Dorothy’s Place in Marysville, KS and also made a positive impact on young minds as a substitute teacher during her career.

Misty attended Winifred Baptist Church and later became a member, along with her husband David. During her teenage years, Misty accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at church camp. That led her to a lifelong commitment of Christian service such as volunteering at vacation bible school, bible camps and bible studies, which included starting a bible study at her care home recently. She enjoyed helping with several local community volunteer programs, including the meals on wheels.

Misty’s hobbies and interests included doing arts and crafts, with crocheting being one of her favorites. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, playing piano, cooking, reading and most importantly watching her K-State Wildcats and Kansas City Chiefs.

Preceding Misty in death are her biological parents and 2 brothers, as well as her adoptive parents, Francis and Dorothy Hardman. Misty leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Long of Blue Rapids, KS; and her children, Jason Long of Mt Vernon, SD, Carrie Ngugi of Topeka, KS, Kristin Long of Salina, KS, Amanda Long of Plankinton, SD, and Aaron Long of Blue Rapids, KS. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Adrionna (Matthew) Wantoch, Jeremy Long, Becca Long and Nathan Ngugi. In addition to her immediate family, Misty is also survived by her brother, G.N. (Jeannie) Hardman of Lyndon, KS, her sister, Lora Hardman of Lawrence, KS, along with several biological siblings.

Her impact on those around her will be remembered fondly and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
