Nancy G. Smith

Nancy G. Smith, 85, of Topeka, KS, passed away October 12, 2023, at her home.

A graveside funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, at the Marysville City Cemetery.

Nancy was born on February 21, 1938, to Mark and Jane (Boyd) Gale, in Concordia, KS.  She graduated from Concordia High School in 1956. Nancy later went on to attend Lindenwood College where she received her bachelor’s degree.

On August 17, 1960, Nancy was united in marriage to Richard Smith, whom she dated since the eighth grade, at Concordia.  They were blessed with three children, Richard, Pamela and Robert. The family moved to Marysville in 1965, staying until 2017.

Nancy worked as a school teacher in Marysville and as an office worker for People Savings, City Sewing, and Tension Envelope.

Nancy enjoyed get togethers with high school classmates, her teammates in the bowling league, playing cards with neighborhood friends, good laughs on the golf course, and teaching swimming lessons.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Richard, on December 16, 2020; parents; and granddaughter, Lydia Clark.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Smith, Topeka, Robert (Janelle) Smith, Henderson, TX; daughter, Pamela (Brad) Clark, Meriden, KS; brother, Lee, Concordia; grandchildren, Tanner Clark, Marissa Maines and Julia Smith; and seven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka or in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
