Patricia E. Dwerlkotte, 96, of Concordia, KS, passed away February 24, 2024, at Cambridge Place in Marysville, KS.

A visitation was held Tuesday, February 27, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.

A rosary service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated.  The musicians were Dolores Bruna and Paula Landoll-Smith.  Music included "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "Panis Angelicus", "St. Frances Cabrini", "The Lord is My Shepherd", "Ave Maria", "Song of Farewell" and "How Great Thou Art."

The pallbearers were her nephews: Mike Thiessen, Mark Dwerlkotte, Mike Berkley, Steve Dwerlkotte, Robert Dwerlkotte and Ron Berkley.

Burial followed at St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. 

Patricia was born September 16, 1927, to Ben and Maria (Bussmann) Dwerlkotte at their home in Marysville.  In 1944, she graduated from Marysville High School.  After graduation she began working at the country school north of Home City for 6 years.  She then started teaching at Blanchville country school for a short period of time until she moved to the Herkimer public school for two years.  Over time, she received her bachelor’s degree and eventually her masters in Home Economics.  In 1953, she worked at the Mankato school for 2.5 years until moving to Concordia where she taught at the high school for an additional 33 years, retiring in 1988.

Patricia had an immense love for traveling and has been to many different areas throughout her life.  Her favorite activities included playing bridge, canning fruits and vegetables and flower gardening.  She belonged to many clubs and was active in the Concordia Community.

She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia.   

Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Joseph Dwerlkotte; sisters, Mary Jo Berkley and Ann Thiessen; and brothers-in-law, Ed Berkley and Vernon Thiessen.

Survivors include her brother, Bernard (Marla) Dwerlkotte, Marysville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dwerlkotte, Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice and St. Gregory’s Catholic School.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
