Randy was born on May 12th, 1961, in Marysville, KS, to parents Marion "Mike" and Juanita (Ballman) Hogan. He spent his childhood doing anything he could outdoors in particular as he was growing up he loved to bird hunt with his dad, brother, and Uncle Father Patrick Hogan. This passion for hunting and the outdoors carried over into his adulthood. He attended Marysville High School and graduated in 1980. Randy then went on to Great Bend, KS where he worked at GBI Industries for 20 years before moving back to the area and working for Sharp Manufacturing in Blue Rapids where he resided.
He was an outdoorsman through and through. The loves of his life were his dogs: Zeek, Jasper, Cole, Gunnie, and Rogue which he trained to hunt with him for over 40 years. During just about all those years, Randy could be found in a duck blind with at least one of his dogs and usually a buddy or two along for the adventure. He also enjoyed fishing with his dad, Uncle Clarence, and brother, Doug. Later in life, he found another hunting passion in bow hunting for whitetails, and he even managed to carve out some time to play a few rounds of golf when he wasn’t hunting.
Randy was always a gentle soul. When Uncle Father Pat was home, mass was held in the backyard, and Randy was always the first to raise his hand to hold the Bible. When he became an uncle, his heart expanded. He loved being an uncle and loved his nephews - Derek and Lucas and nieces - Delaina and Nicole with his whole being.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita, brother-in-law, Roger Seematter, and nephew, Derek Whitsell.
Survivors include his father: Marion (Mike), Marysville; brother: Doug (Cathy) Hogan, Minneapolis, KS; sisters: Diane (Rick) Lister, Blue Rapids; Colleen Seematter, Marysville; nephew: Lucas, and nieces: Delaina and Nicole; great-nephews: Scott, Justin, Devin, Karson, and Grady; great-nieces: Sarah, Abby, Bailee, Haily, Macy, and Morgan along with extended family and friends.
