Raymond was born July 30, 1928, on the family farm near Bremen to Martin and Mabel Friedrichs. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hermansberg. He was the last class to be confirmed in the German language in 1942. In 1946, he graduated from Marysville High School.

On August 30,1953, he married Lorna Blanke. They were blessed with four children; Virginia, Beverly, Robin, and Connie.

Ray was a lifelong farmer. He began as a dairy farmer and later raised hogs. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being in the field on a tractor. Ray was a member of the Men’s Club at Immanuel Lutheran Church and sang in the Men’s Choir for most of his adult life. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking and making projects for friends and family. He also delivered meals in Washington County to senior residents through the Friendly Corners meal delivery at the senior center. Ray and Lorna enjoyed countless bus tours viewing the country. They also enjoyed square dancing in the Cross Trailers Club for many years.

He enjoyed baseball and played for the Bremen baseball team as a catcher. He also coached youth baseball teams, and later umpired many baseball and softball games. He enjoyed attending K.C. Royals games and watching sports on the ESPN channel. Ray loved to share stories with friends and families. His sense of humor helped him get to the age of 96. Ray’s most amazing gift was his undeniable strong faith and trust in God. He shared his faith through his words and actions.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna in 2017; parents; brother, Leonard; sisters, Verneda Mason and Donna Kelly; brothers-in-law, Norwood Blanke, Harry Kruse, Jerry Mason and Howard Mohlenbrink; and sisters-in-law, Esther Blanke, Verla Kruse, and Elda Friedrichs.

Hope, KS, and Connie (Todd Straight) Herzliya, Israel; sisters, Darlene Mohlenbrink and Janice (Lennis) Holle, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
