Rita E. Broxterman, 84, Frankfort, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Onaga Community Hospital, Onaga. Visitation was Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. Rosary was at 10 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort and the funeral mass followed at 10:30 a.m. Burial was in the St. Josephs Cemetery, Lillis. Rita was born on April 17, 1938, to Francis and Agnes (Wessel) Tangeman at the family farm near St. Benedict, KS. On November 11, 1958, she married Charles Broxterman in St. Benedict, KS. To this union, 10 children were born. She also enjoyed 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Annunciation Altar Society, Red Hat Society, Harmony Guild, and a Ladies Quilting Group. Known as great-grandma, grandma, mom, and Rita, this lovely lady had many talents. She was exceptional at baking, cooking, quilting, sewing, gardening, and much more. She was always the giving type to all of those she loved, and she put a lot of hard work into what she loved. One of these things included hand making a specialized quilt for each of her children for their wedding gift. She was always in the kitchen, using her outstanding cooking skills to show her love for the people she surrounded herself with. She was known as kind, strong, intelligent, caring and nurturing. Rita always had a way of making sure everyone was comfortable and safe when under her care. She was a great role model and inspiration for many. People could always count on her to be there or to lend a helping hand when needed. She made sure to put others before herself while caring for her family at all times. Rita was an amazing woman who lived a full life of poise and grace while always making sure she was serving God. She is a soul that will always be remembered. We love you, always and forever, Rita Elizabeth Broxterman. Preceding her in death were her parents; siblings, Alice Wehner, Ester McMahon, Emmet, Cletus, Cyril, Frankie, and Leroy Tangeman; and son, Jon in 1990. Survivors include her husband of the home; her children, Duane (Kathi), Rutledge, GA, Jerry (Connie), Vermillion, KS, Paul (Diane), Home, KS, Mike (Julia), Cheney, KS, Marybeth (Dave), Gurtler, Colorado Springs, CO, Toby, Blue Rapids, KS, Jason (Desiree) Meriden, KS, Larry (Jane), Bonner Springs, KS, Ricky (Heather), Silver Lake, KS. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort, KS.
