Ron graduated from Marysville High School in 1959, and then attended Washburn University for a year before embarking on his successful career as a railroad professional. He was a lifelong railroader and a dedicated Locomotive Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. His journey in the railroad industry began in 1960 when he hired out on the railroad. His career spanned over four decades, during which he displayed an unwavering commitment for his work.
On March 10, 1962, he married Connie Ilene Freeby. To this union two sons were born, Jeffrey and Darren.
Known for his warm personality and infectious sense of humor, Ron always had a good joke or story to share. His ability to connect with people allowed him to form lasting friendships throughout his life. Whether engaging in lively conversations or spending time with loved ones, Ron's presence was always filled with joy and laughter.
When he wasn't working or spending time with family and friends, Ron enjoyed pursuing his hobbies and interests. He found immense pleasure in being around his grandkids, cherishing every moment spent with them. As an avid conversationalist and lover of jokes, Ron had a natural ability to brighten any room he entered.
Another one of Ron's passions was old cars. He found great delight in classic automobiles and appreciated the beauty and craftsmanship of these timeless vehicles.
