Ronald "Hub" Hubbard

Ronald “Hub” G. Hubbard, 71, of Marysville, Kansas, died August 12, 2026, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., August 29, at the Marysville American Legion.  Gary Phillips officiated.  Music included "My Way", "Can't Help Falling In Love", and "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Burial will be in the Avoca Cemetery, near Avoca, Nebraska.

Hub was born on December 30, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Sewell and Dorothy (Overcash) Hubbard. He graduated from high school in Baltimore. In 1973, Ron joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. Following his discharge, he settled in Marshall County.

He began his working career with Parry Plumbing and PepsiCo before being hired by Union Pacific Railroad in August 1990. He initially worked on a system gang, traveling throughout the Midwest. He later operated a regulator on the Kansas Division, based out of Fairbury, Nebraska, where he worked until his retirement.

On September 11, 1999, Ron was united in marriage to Jonna Emshoff aboard a pontoon boat at Tuttle Creek Lake.

Hub loved to socialize and had a way of making friends wherever he went. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a good joke, and was always ready to have a good time. His many interests included baseball, fast-pitch softball, golfing, fishing, hunting, shooting pool, and watching Westerns.

Hub also had a wonderful singing voice and especially enjoyed singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” to his wife, Jonna. During an Alaskan cruise, he entered a singing competition and made it to the finals, performing in front of thousands of people.

He was a longtime member of American Legion Post #163, the Crappie Club, and the country club.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Jonna; his parents, Sewell and Dorothy Hubbard; his brother, Edgar Hubbard; and his sister, Dolorse Ann Spradlin.

Survivors include his faithful dog, Mickey; aunt, Marleen Stout; cousins, Kevin Stout, Angie Overcash, and Larrie Overcash; and sisters-in-law, Sue (Phil) Crafton and Polly (Greg) Frye.
