Roy W. Hartsook, 87, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away November 5, 2025, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids, Kansas.
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A private family service was held, followed by burial in Marysville City Cemetery.
Roy was born January 10, 1938, in Smith Center, Kansas, to Daniel and Helen (Welsch) Hartsook. In the early 1940s, the family moved to Bern, where he graduated from Bern High School. Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and served for two years.
On May 1, 1970, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann “Judy” Reynolds. They enjoyed camping and spending time together throughout their marriage.
Roy was an auto mechanic his entire life. He worked for Hall Brothers, the Pontiac Garage, Cooksey Auto, and C&C Auto Sales. Later, he and Judy went into business for themselves, co-owning Roy’s Kerr McGee, Circle H Auto Sales, and R&K Service, where his son Keith worked alongside him. Roy retired in 2003, finishing his career at Dave’s Body Shop, working alongside both of his sons.
He enjoyed family trips to Colorado, bird hunting, camping, and fishing. A passionate car enthusiast, Roy collected and restored classic vehicles. He was a proud member of the American Legion in Marysville.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Judy; sister, Betty Malcolm; and great-grandson, Bennett Day.
Survivors include his children, Dave (Chris) Hartsook of Waterville, Kansas, Keith (Lisa) Hartsook of Herkimer, Kansas, and Deb (Keith) Vacha of Marysville; brother, Max (Gerry Ann) Hartsook, Topeka; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Casey) Tryon-Koehler, Amber (Josh Olvera) Hartsook, Mark (Lauren) Hartsook, Kendra (Brett) Boldra, Bobby (Wendy) Peugh, Liz (Lance) Schroeder, Chad (Rubiel) Vacha, and Jen (Nate) Macke; and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established to benefit the Marshall County Veterans Memorial Wall. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
