Ryan was born on February 11, 1985, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to David A. and Betty J. (Baehr) Friedrichs. Known to many as “Freddy,” he attended Marysville schools and graduated from Marysville High School in 2003. Following high school, he attended Garden City Community College, where he played football for two years, before earning his degree from Emporia State University in 2007.
After completing his education, Ryan returned home to farm alongside his father. He also worked at John Deere in Marysville and was a longtime employee of Marysville Livestock.
On June 2, 2012, he was united in marriage to Melissa Faxon at the Beatrice United Methodist Church in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Ryan was deeply devoted to his family, his farm, and his community. He enjoyed serving as an assistant coach for the Marysville Bulldog football team and coaching his children's youth sports teams. He volunteered with the Logan Township Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Southeast Coop Board, raised pigs, and generously shared his knowledge with many young people involved in 4-H projects. Although he often joked about having a love-hate relationship with his pigs, caring for them was one of his greatest passions. He knew each of his cattle well, and they seemed to know him just as well. Above all, Ryan cherished time spent with his family. He especially looked forward to the family's annual trips to the lake and rarely missed an opportunity to attend Korie's and Case's activities and events.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cami Friedrichs, on September 6, 2024; and his niece, Audrey Friedrichs.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa Friedrichs; daughter, Korie Friedrichs; son, Case Friedrichs; parents, Dave and Betty Friedrichs of Marysville; brother, Kevin (Jessica) Friedrichs of Shawnee, Kansas, and their children, Clara, Emmett, Hannah, and Violet; sister, Kari (Dan) Bigham of Topeka, Kansas, and their children, Lane and Eva; father- and mother-in-law, John and Teresa Faxon of Odell, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Crystal (Jason) Brincks of Honey Creek, Iowa, and their son, Malachi; brother-in-law, JD (Payton) Faxon of Grand Island, Nebraska, and their son, Hayden; grandmother-in-law, Nelvadean Shwab of Beatrice, Nebraska; along with many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Ryan's children. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
