After marriage, they moved to the farm near Frankfort. She became a devoted homemaker and a true farmers wife – fixing the noon meals, hauling grain to the elevator, running errands to get parts, and always being a good neighbor. She treasured her life on the farm. Together, they raised three children, Terri, Tami, and John.

Family was especially important to her and she hosted many family gatherings with the Miller family, with wonderful meals and a good game of pitch. She looked forward to the annual Carlson Family Reunion weekend with competitive games of volleyball and trips to the old homestead.

Sandi also cherished her time with friends with many coffees, luncheons, and fun times together. She was a very warm and welcoming person who always made you feel at home. Many people would stop in over the years and her generous hospitality would be felt with good food and conversation.

Sandi was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church where she belonged to the Annunciation Altar Society. She was a 62 year charter member of Beta Epsilon ESA Chapter doing many service projects for the community.
