In 1968, she moved to Axtell and was united in marriage to Alfred Porting on November 23, 1974. She worked for the grocery stores in Axtell and Centralia and for Betty’s Food and Fuel in Home, KS. Sarah was a good cook and made amazing cinnamon rolls. Sarah was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the West Point Club. She was active with the Axtell Blood Drive, RSVP and worked as an Election Chairperson. Sarah loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything. She enjoyed visiting with them and the first thing she would talk about to visitors or anyone stopping by, would be grandchildren. When she was able to be out, she enjoyed going to their sporting events, dance events, anything activity they were involved in. When her children would call the first thing she would ask about, were the grandchildren or her great grandchildren. Sarah also loved doing puzzles, a love she got from her mother. Sarah could assemble puzzles in a matter of days without assistance from anyone. She also enjoyed going on drives with her children and especially enjoyed trips to Kansas City where she could see her great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred in 2014; son, Kenneth Green in 1976; and brothers, Dee Ross, Harry Ross and Sam Ross.
