Sharon L. Bruna, 86, of Barnes, Kansas, passed away on May 24, 2026, at Hanover Hospital in Hanover, Kansas.
Visitation was held Friday, May 29, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Hanover Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
A rosary service was held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial was in the church cemetery. Father David Metz officiated.
Music was provided by Janet Fritschi, Kelsey Goodwin, and the St. John’s Church Choir. Musical selections included “Come to Me,” “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman,” “In the Garden,” “Song of Farewell,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
The pallbearers were Brock Bruna, Dan Gleason, Kyle Kruse, Kent Kruse, Greg Jueneman and Randy Bruna.
Sharon was born July 27, 1939, near Greenleaf, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Myrtie (Johnson) Bledsoe. She graduated as valedictorian of the Greenleaf High School class.
On October 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to William Bruna. Four children were born to this union: Debra, Steven, Don, and Gene. They later divorced.
Sharon worked in bookkeeping at the Barnes Elevator until it closed. She later became an associate at Walmart in Beatrice, Nebraska, where she worked for 20 years.
She enjoyed caring for her flowers and yard and was known for her love of baking and cooking. Sharon especially cherished preparing meals for her family, and there was always room at her table for one more guest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Shirley Wiemers and Lenore Samuelson; and brothers, Walter Bledsoe and Milton Bledsoe.
Survivors include her children, Debra Kruse (Alan), Steven Bruna, Don Bruna, and Gene Bruna; grandchildren, Kyle Kruse (Monika), Kristin Blanding, Kent Kruse (Lisa), Kelsie Gleason (Dan), and Brock Bruna (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Connor, Blair, and Brody Gleason; Maura, Camry, Jayda, and Kole Bruna; Benson, Langston, Baker, Tripp, and Bodie Kruse; and Kennedy and Klara Blanding; sisters, Linda Alexander and Leila Justis; and sister-in-law, Kathy Bledsoe.
A memorial fund has been established to St. John's Catholic School. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary, c/o Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
