Wayne Dean Friedrichs

Greenleaf, Kansas

Wayne D. Friedrichs, 86, of Greenleaf, KS, passed away November 14, 2023, at Blue Valley Health and Rehab, in Blue Rapids, KS.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 22, at the Marysville City Cemetery.  Rev. Philip Miller will officiate.

Wayne was born on August 21, 1937, at Odell, NE, to Friedrich and Caroline (Loemker) Friedrichs.  He grew up near Herkimer, KS, and attended Marysville High School, graduating in 1955.  After high school he served in the Army.  

On June 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to De Anna Kay Lohmeyer at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville.  After being honorably discharged from the Army, Wayne attended Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS.  Shortly after graduating, he started working for Bremen Farmers Mutual Insurance until retiring in 2000.

Wayne enjoyed golfing and traveling overseas.  Some of his favorite spots he visited were England, Germany and Hawaii.  He liked to play baseball and softball in his younger years.  His favorite sports teams were Kansas State, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals.

He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and the Hanover American Legion.  

Preceding him in death are his parents; infant daughter, Tanya Renee' Friedrichs in 1972; brothers, Waldemar, Wilbur, Rowland and Fred Friedrichs.

Survivors include his wife; son, Troy; sisters, Norma Fairchild, Manhattan, KS, and Nelda Friedrichs, Lake Arrowhead, CA; granddaughter, Alyssa Friedrichs; sisters-in-law, Ruth Friedrichs and DeVon Swiat; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established to the Mt. Calvary Church Fellowship Hall.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
