Elsie K. Heath, 94, of Marysville, KS, died June 17, 2017 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Tuesday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Rev. Barry Dunmire officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ and sang “In the Garden” and “I’ll Fly Away”. The pallbearers were Chad Heath, Lance Heath, Scott Vanarsdall, Gene Murray, Lawrence Murray, and Raymond Heath. The honorary pallbearers were Glen Murray and Dick Hovat. Burial was in the Summerfield Cemetery, Summerfield, KS. Elsie was born February 11, 1923, at Plattsmouth, NE, to Guy and Mearle (Irwin) Murray. In 1924, her family moved to the St. Bridgett area. She rode her pony, Trixie, to grade school for 2 years at Summerfield. In 1940, she graduated from Axtell High School. On October 11, 1942, she married J. Algern Heath at the Summerfield Presbyterian Church. They were parents of two sons and three daughters. They lived near Burchard, NE, for six years before moving near Summerfield. In 1977, they moved into Marysville. She enjoyed bible studies, teaching at the Good News Club in Summerfield, playing cards, reading, driving, and having lunch at the Helvering Center in Marysville. After high school, she received her normal training and taught school for two years at Brush College and two years at Summerfield. She also worked at the post office, Walmart, and volunteered at the Pony Express Museum. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. Algern Heath, on July 14, 2001; two children, Charlene Heath in 1947, and Lisa Heath in 1962; grandchildren, Ryan Miller, Brandon Miller, and Amanda Johnson; and a brother, Dale Murray. Survivors include her children, Lynn (Laverne) Heath, Andover, KS, Paul Heath, Burchard, NE, and Elaine (Bernard) Miller, formerly of Pickrell, NE; seven grandchildren, Lynette Heath, Larissa Palmer, Lance (Lori) Heath, Dawn (Scott) Vanarsdall, Chad (Michelle) Heath, Cristi (Jon) Meybrunn, and Micki (Rod) Nolte; grandchildren-in-law, Jennifer Miller and Dan Johnson; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
